"I must be doing something wrong if they prosper and I struggle"
How it sounds in your head: You've been to the conferences, read the books, tithed faithfully, prayed the prayers. They show up to church twice a month and their business is booming. The guilt whispers: you must be missing something, doing something wrong, blocked by some hidden sin. If you could just figure out the formula they cracked...
"And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work."
-- Romans 11:6Performance gospel from religion teaching that prosperity is a puzzle to solve through correct behavior, turning God's grace into a vending machine of works.
You've been 'doing everything right' by every church metric and still struggling, while they seem casual about faith and are thriving. If it's not about behavior, why are the results so different? There must be a secret you're missing.
Achan stole devoted things and got his whole family killed in Joshua 7. Immediate next chapter, Joshua 8, God tells Israel to attack Ai and 'you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho... only its spoil and its cattle you shall take'—permission to plunder given RIGHT AFTER judgment, zero waiting period, zero process to 'earn back' blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm doing something wrong or missing a formula. IT IS WRITTEN: 'If by grace, then it is no longer of works'—there is NO behavior code that unlocks blessing. I am blessed by COVENANT, not CONDUCT. Abraham lied and prospered. Jacob deceived and got blessed. The BARAK doesn't require perfection—it requires POSITION in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN: 'I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus'—my right standing is a GIFT, and so is my provision. I stop striving and start RECEIVING. My Father isn't grading my performance—He's enjoying my presence.
Your Father is watching you exhaust yourself trying to crack a code that doesn't exist. There's no secret handshake, no hidden step, no perfect behavior pattern—just a finished work and an open hand. He's about to show you that the 'formula' was always just: Christ + Nothing = Everything.
