"I have to work constantly and never rest or I'll end up poor"
How it sounds in your head: I see people work all the time and still struggle. I hear that if you're not hustling 24/7, you'll fall behind. Even thinking about rest feels lazy and irresponsible. I'm scared that if I ever stop working, everything will fall apart.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."
-- Psalm 127:2Performance and works-based provision that denies grace and Sabbath rest
She's surrounded by hustle culture and sees adults working constantly while still stressed about money. Rest feels like weakness when everyone successful seems to work nonstop.
God commanded Israel to do zero work on Sabbath. Those who tried to gather manna on Sabbath found none. Those who rested on Sabbath had double provision from the day before that miraculously didn't spoil. Rest was rewarded, not hustle.
I REFUSE the lie that I must hustle constantly to have provision. IT IS WRITTEN that it is vain to rise up early and stay up late anxiously working, because my Father gives to His beloved in their sleep. I am not the vine striving to produce - I am the branch resting in Him. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the BARAK blessing, which includes commanded rest and supernatural provision. God gave manna to resting Israel, not hustling Israel. My worth and provision flow from connection, not exhaustion. I receive rest as an act of faith.
Your Father wants you to sleep peacefully while He works on your behalf. He's not impressed by your exhaustion - He's running toward you with provision that comes from His work, not yours, inviting you to rest like a daughter, not hustle like an orphan.
