"I have to hide my body because it's not good enough."
How it sounds in your head: Don't take your shirt off at the pool. Don't change in the locker room where people can see. Wear baggy clothes so nobody notices. Your body is something to hide, not show. It's not good enough to be seen.
"Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good."
-- Genesis 1:31Enemy weaponizing shame from comparison + early learned body-hiding behavior creating lifelong disconnection from physical self.
You DO feel vulnerable when your body is visible, especially compared to others. Hiding feels safer than risking judgment or mockery.
Before sin, Adam and Eve were 'both naked and were not ashamed.' Their bodies were fully visible and they felt ZERO shame because shame wasn't part of God's original design. Body shame came from the enemy, not from God.
I REFUSE the lie that my body is something shameful that must be hidden. IT IS WRITTEN that God saw everything He made and called it VERY GOOD, and that includes my body at 12 years old. Shame about my body didn't come from heaven—it came from the enemy. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and wonderful things don't need to hide. I don't have to earn the right to take my shirt off or exist in my body without apology. God called it VERY GOOD, and who am I to call His work shameful? I walk in freedom, not hiding.
The Father looks at you trying to hide your body and His heart breaks—not because of how you look, but because you believe the lie that His craftsmanship is shameful. He wants to restore the freedom Adam had before shame entered: being fully seen and fully loved, with nothing to hide.
