"I have to fix myself before God can really use me"

How it sounds in your head: I have so many issues—insecurity, jealousy, fear, bad habits. Once I get those sorted out and become a better person, then maybe God can do something with me. Right now I'm too much of a mess.

2 Corinthians 12:9

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

-- 2 Corinthians 12:9
Enemy whispers: Fix yourself, then God can use you. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 2 Corinthians 12:9 - My strength is made perfect in WEAKNESS. God doesn't wait for you to be fixed; He shows up STRONGEST in your mess! Paul BOASTED in his weaknesses because that's where God's power showed up best. IT IS WRITTEN that God uses the foolish things to shame the wise and the weak things to shame the strong. Your mess is not disqualification; it's the exact place His grace shines brightest.
Quick Truth: LIE: Fix yourself first, then God can use you. TRUTH: His strength is perfect in weakness. He uses the mess, not the perfect. (2 Cor 12:9)

Religion preaches a 'get cleaned up first' gospel that contradicts Jesus' entire ministry of using broken, messy people exactly as they were.

Why this feels true:

She sees her flaws clearly and assumes God sees them as disqualifications. Church culture often highlights 'after' testimonies, making it seem like God only uses people who've already overcome, not people currently struggling.

Judges 6:12-16
Gideon

God called Gideon a 'mighty warrior' while he was hiding in a winepress, terrified and insecure, from the weakest family in the weakest tribe. God didn't wait for Gideon to fix his fear; He used him WHILE he was afraid.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I have to fix myself before God can use me. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made perfect in my WEAKNESS, which means my mess is not a disqualification. God called Gideon mighty while he was hiding in fear. He used Moses who stuttered, David who committed adultery, Peter who denied Him. IT IS WRITTEN that God uses the weak to shame the strong. I don't have to wait until I'm 'better' to be used. There is no condemnation in Christ for my current struggles. I am the righteousness of God RIGHT NOW, in the middle of my mess. The BARAK blessing is on me by covenant, not by how put-together I am. He's using me TODAY, flaws and all.

But God actually:

The Father doesn't hand you a to-do list of self-improvement before He'll work through you. He's already putting His treasure in your cracked clay pot because the cracks are where His light shines through best.
