"I have no spiritual authority because I'm too young and inexperienced in faith."
How it sounds in your head: The older guys at church have authority. The pastors have authority. Me? I'm still figuring out basic theology. Who am I to command demons or speak with power? I need years of maturity first.
"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
-- 1 Timothy 4:12Source: Religion teaching authority comes from age/tenure/title rather than covenant position in Christ.
You see seasoned believers moving in power and feel disqualified by comparison. Your friends who've been Christians longer seem more equipped, and you're still Googling basic Bible questions.
Timothy was a young pastor (likely late twenties) leading the church at Ephesus, one of the most challenging assignments in the early church. Paul didn't tell him to wait for gray hair—he told him to let no one despise his youth and to use the gift that was in him NOW.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too young or inexperienced for spiritual authority. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over ALL the power of the enemy. My authority is not based on my tenure but on my position—seated with Christ in heavenly places far above all principality and power. IT IS WRITTEN that if I am in Christ, I am Abraham's seed and heir according to the PROMISE, which means the BARAK blessing that protected Abraham protects me. I am not waiting to grow into authority—I already have it because HE gave it. I speak, demons flee, sickness leaves, provision comes—not because I'm experienced, but because I'm His.
The Father isn't waiting for you to age into authority—He's already placed His ring on your finger and His robe on your shoulders. You came from the pig pen this morning, and He's throwing you a party this afternoon with FULL authority restored because you're His son, period.
