"I had an abortion years ago; that disqualifies me from God's best forever."
How it sounds in your head: You ended a life. You can be forgiven, maybe, but you'll never have the abundant life or full blessing. You'll always be second-class in God's kingdom. How can He use someone who did that? You deserve the struggles you have with your living children—it's justice.
"He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea."
-- Micah 7:19Religious teaching that abortion is the 'unforgivable sin' or creates permanent disqualification, plus enemy accusation exploiting genuine grief.
The weight of that decision feels different than other sins because another life was involved, and pro-life teaching (though true about life's value) sometimes leaves women feeling they're beyond full restoration. She genuinely grieves and believes that grief is proof of permanent disqualification.
Bathsheba's first child died as a consequence of the adultery with David. Tragic, devastating loss connected to sin. Yet her NEXT son was Solomon—the one God loved, the one who built the temple, the one in the lineage of Jesus. She didn't stay disqualified; she became the mother of kings and is named in Christ's genealogy.
I REFUSE the lie that my past abortion disqualifies me from God's best. IT IS WRITTEN: He has cast ALL my sins into the depths of the sea—unretrievable and forgotten. I am not second-class in the Kingdom; I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN: The BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine through Christ, not because of my perfection but because of His blood. God's compassion toward me is NEW every morning, and His plans for me are for GOOD, for HOPE, and for a FUTURE. I receive the full abundant life Jesus died to give me—nothing held back, nothing withheld. I am fully loved, fully qualified, fully blessed.
The Father isn't holding that decision against you or making you earn back what you lost. He's running toward you with the ring of authority and the robe of righteousness, declaring you are His beloved daughter, FULLY restored, qualified to mother and nurture and walk in EVERY blessing He has for you—nothing missing, nothing broken.
