"I failed as a mother—my kids' struggles prove I was never qualified to lead anyone."
How it sounds in your head: Your adult kids are making choices that break your heart. If you couldn't even raise your own children right, how could God trust you with anyone else? Their pain is evidence of your failure, and everyone can see it.
"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."
-- Ezekiel 18:20Source: religion. The 'good tree/good fruit' teaching gets twisted into: if your kids struggle, YOU failed—and failed people can't be used.
You see other moms with 'successful' kids leading Bible studies and speaking at conferences. Meanwhile, your daughter won't return your calls and your son walked away from faith. Their choices feel like a report card with your name on it.
Samuel was a faithful prophet whose sons turned corrupt—taking bribes, perverting justice. Israel rejected them. Yet God NEVER removed Samuel's anointing or silenced his voice. His sons' failure didn't disqualify Samuel's calling.
I REFUSE the lie that my kids' struggles disqualify me. IT IS WRITTEN: Each person bears their OWN guilt—not mine. Samuel's sons perverted justice, yet Samuel remained God's prophet. Even God the Father has rebellious children, and He's still worthy. IT IS WRITTEN: I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ—not based on my children's choices but on HIS blood. The BARAK blessing flows through me regardless of who accepts or rejects it. I am qualified by COVENANT, not by outcomes. My motherhood doesn't define my calling; my SONSHIP does.
Your Father isn't withholding your calling until your kids 'turn out right.' He's commissioning you RIGHT NOW, exactly as you are—not despite your story but often BECAUSE of it. Broken crayons still color.
