"I don't deserve to move forward after what I've done"
How it sounds in your head: You cheated on that exam. You got that scholarship under false pretenses. Everyone thinks you're this good Christian guy, but you're a fraud. You don't deserve good things. You should withdraw, confess, blow up your future—that's what integrity looks like.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit."
-- Titus 3:5Source: Religion's merit system disguised as integrity—the enemy convincing you that deserving something comes before receiving it, when grace is explicitly UNDESERVED favor.
Because the world operates on merit and earning, and grace feels like cheating the system. Because admitting you don't deserve it feels humble, when it's actually the requirement for receiving grace—none of us deserve it.
Jacob LIED to his blind father, DECEIVED him with goat skin to steal his brother's blessing, committed fraud for personal gain. God didn't revoke the blessing or make him earn it back—Jacob became ISRAEL, father of the twelve tribes, and the blessing stood PERMANENTLY despite the deception.
I REFUSE the lie that I must deserve what grace freely gives. IT IS WRITTEN that not by works of righteousness which I have done, but according to His MERCY He saved me—deserving has nothing to do with it. I stand in the BARAK blessing given to Abraham the liar, Isaac the deceiver's son, and Jacob the con artist. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 2:8-9 that salvation is a GIFT, not a wage—I can't earn it, and I can't un-earn it. I am a BRANCH in the VINE, and branches don't deserve the sap—they simply receive it. My future is not determined by my past failures but by His finished work. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and I move forward in the GIFT of His grace, not the merit of my works.
The Father isn't tallying up your deserve-meter before He blesses you—He's already decided based on Jesus' worthiness, not yours. While you're rehearsing your disqualifications, He's preparing your inheritance, because covenant isn't about your merit; it's about His nature.
