"I didn't start my period yet and all my friends did—something's wrong with me and I'm behind."
How it sounds in your head: They're talking about periods and cramps and you have nothing to contribute. They're buying pads and you're still waiting. They look at you like you're still a little girl and they're teenagers now. Your body is broken or slow or wrong, and you're going to be the last one, the weird one, the one who didn't develop right.
"But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son."
-- Galatians 4:4World—the lie that there's one 'normal' timeline for development and deviation means something is wrong with you.
When your close friends hit puberty milestones before you, the gap feels enormous and public. Starting your period feels like an initiation into a club you're locked out of, and not having it yet feels like proof your body is defective or abnormal.
Hannah's womb was closed for YEARS while other women had children easily—she was mocked and called barren. Then 'the Lord remembered her' and she conceived Samuel at God's perfect time—not when society said she should, but when GOD said, and Samuel became one of Israel's greatest prophets. Her 'late' baby was worth the wait.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm behind or broken because I haven't started my period yet. IT IS WRITTEN that God operates in the FULLNESS of time—His timing is PERFECT. My body is unfolding exactly on the schedule He designed for me. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:16 that all my days were written in His book before one of them came to be—including the day I start my period. I am not comparing my body to my friends' bodies. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and NOTHING is wrong with me.
The Father isn't concerned that you haven't started yet—He's watching your development with PRIDE, knowing the exact day it will happen according to His perfect plan. While you're worried about being the last one, He's celebrating that your body is doing exactly what He designed it to do, exactly when He designed it to happen.
