"I compare myself to people who really earned their position, and I feel like I snuck in the back door."
How it sounds in your head: They have the pedigree, the lineage, the clear qualifications. You have a winding path full of lucky breaks. They walked through the front entrance; you climbed through a window.
"These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day... Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?"
-- Matthew 20:12-15Comparison trap plus works-based thinking—legitimate arrival must follow prescribed paths.
His unconventional path feels inferior to those with linear, credentialed journeys. Grace looks like cheating when others took the 'proper' route.
Paul called himself least of apostles, unworthy to be called one—yet grace made him labor more than all. Instant apostleship despite persecuting the church.
I REFUSE the lie that my path disqualifies me. IT IS WRITTEN that the landowner gives what He wishes—grace is His prerogative, not my achievement. I didn't sneak in; He OPENED the door because that's His NATURE. My winding path is His sovereign design, not disqualifying chaos. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 11:6—if by grace, then not of works, otherwise grace is no more. I am blessed by COVENANT, not credentials—Abraham's seed, heir by PROMISE.
The Father doesn't rank His children by how hard they worked to get home. The prodigal got the SAME robe, ring, and party as the older brother who stayed—because both are SONS. Stop comparing grace.
