"I cheated on that test, so God won't help me succeed in school anymore."
How it sounds in your head: I panicked and looked at her answers. I know it was wrong but I was so scared of failing. Now I feel like God won't help me understand things in class because I cheated. I have to earn back His help by never cheating again.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Source: Religion teaching that God's blessing is earned through obedience and withheld as punishment for disobedience.
She genuinely cheated and feels guilty. The transactional teaching that 'God helps those who help themselves' (not in the Bible) makes her think she forfeited divine assistance.
Jacob put on goat skins to DECEIVE his blind father into giving him Esau's blessing through outright LIES. God didn't revoke the blessing—He CONFIRMED it, changed Jacob's name to Israel, and made him father of God's people despite the deception.
I REFUSE the lie that one mistake disqualifies me from God's help and blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me WILL complete it—not might, not if I'm perfect, but WILL. Jacob LIED his way into blessing and God still used him to birth a nation. The BARAK blessing covered him THROUGH deception, not after he cleaned up. Yes, I'll choose honesty going forward because that's wisdom, but God didn't stop working on my behalf when I cheated. IT IS WRITTEN that His gifts and calling are irrevocable—He doesn't take back His commitment to my success because of a test. I am Abraham's seed, heir according to promise, and the blessing isn't based on my performance. God is FOR me, not against me, even when I fail.
The Father didn't gasp and withdraw when you looked at her paper—He already knew you would, already factored it into His plan, and is STILL committed to making you brilliant in that subject through His grace, not your perfection.
