"I can't try again because everyone saw me fail the first time."
How it sounds in your head: The guys at school know. My family knows. What if I fail again and look even dumber? Maybe it's better to just not try and avoid the embarrassment.
"Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me."
-- Micah 7:8Enemy + world: Your reputation is more important than your destiny. Public failure disqualifies you.
People actually did witness the failure and he's at an age where peer perception feels life-or-death important.
John Mark bailed on Paul's first missionary journey and Paul refused to take him again - public ministry failure. Years later, Paul wrote 'bring Mark, for he is useful to me' - complete comeback and restoration.
I REFUSE the lie that public failure disqualifies me from trying again. IT IS WRITTEN that when I fall, I WILL arise - falling is expected and rising is guaranteed for the righteous. People's opinions don't determine my destiny; God's Word does. IT IS WRITTEN that I forget what's behind and reach forward to what's ahead - my past doesn't define my future. John Mark failed publicly and Paul still called him useful later. I am blessed coming in and going out, and my comeback will be public too. The barak blessing on my life can't be stopped by embarrassment.
The Father isn't embarrassed by your failure - He's excited about your comeback story. Like Peter who denied Jesus three times publicly and still became the rock, your restoration will be as public as your setback.
