"I can't connect with my kids because I don't know how to show emotion."
How it sounds in your head: You were raised to be strong, to not cry, to handle things alone. Now your kids need emotional presence and you don't know how to give it. You stand there awkward when they're upset, you change the subject when things get deep, you're terrified you're raising emotionally distant kids because you don't know how to be different.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35World system lie about masculinity that equates strength with silence and makes emotional capacity a weakness instead of image-of-God design.
Your teenage daughter literally said last month 'I don't know what you're feeling' and you didn't know how to respond. You see other dads crying at graduations, having deep talks, and you feel like an alien who missed that download.
Jairus was a synagogue ruler—a leader expected to be stoic and composed—yet he FELL at Jesus' feet BEGGING for his daughter, undignified and desperate. Jesus didn't rebuke his emotion; He RESPONDED to it, raising the daughter instantly and restoring the relationship completely.
I REFUSE the lie that emotional capacity is weakness or that I'm too damaged to connect with my kids. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus wept—the Son of God showed emotion publicly and I'm being conformed to HIS image. I have the MIND of Christ, which includes His emotional wholeness. IT IS WRITTEN that the Father is restoring ALL things, and that includes every place religion told me to shut down my heart. Like Jairus fell undignified before Jesus and got his daughter back, I humble myself before the Father and receive HIS heart for my kids. The BARAK blessing includes RESTORED RELATIONSHIPS—my connection with my kids is covenant promise, not behavior project.
The Father is not waiting for you to master emotions—He's releasing HIS heart through you right now. Every awkward moment is actually breakthrough happening, ice melting, the real you emerging. He's not frustrated with your process; He's CELEBRATING your honesty.
