"I can't believe for wealth when so many are suffering; it would be selfish."
How it sounds in your head: My grandkids are struggling. Friends are in nursing homes on Medicaid. How can I ask God for abundance when others have nothing? Wouldn't that be self-centered and tone-deaf to real suffering?
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Religion: False guilt; poverty as virtue; 'others first' twisted into self-disqualification from blessing.
He genuinely cares about others' suffering and has been taught that wanting for himself while others lack is spiritually wrong. Humility was defined as self-denial, not receiving from God.
After Job prayed for his friends who had condemned him with religious arguments, the Lord restored Job's losses and gave him TWICE as much as before. His wealth blessed his entire community—receiving abundance enabled him to be a greater blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that receiving wealth while others suffer is selfish or that my abundance somehow causes their lack. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes all grace abound toward me so I have sufficiency in ALL things and abundance for every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8). I cannot fund Kingdom purposes from poverty. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous are bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1)—I receive the BARAK blessing without guilt or apology. I declare that as I prosper, I become a river of provision to my grandchildren, my community, and Kingdom purposes. My overflow is their blessing.
Your Father isn't asking you to stay poor in solidarity with the suffering—He wants to make you a CONDUIT of provision to them. Like Job receiving double to bless his community, your abundance is the answer to their prayers, not competition with their needs.
