"I can't ask God for help because my family caused this debt ourselves."
How it sounds in your head: Dad made bad business decisions. Mom overspent on credit cards. They DID this to themselves. It feels wrong to pray for help when they messed up. God probably won't listen anyway.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religion: Teaching that God only helps those who didn't cause their own problems.
You can trace the debt to specific choices your parents made. It feels like consequences they deserve, not problems God should fix.
Directly DISOBEYED God, ran opposite direction, caused storm that endangered innocent sailors, got thrown overboard by HIS OWN FAULT. God sent fish to SAVE him and still completed his assignment.
I REFUSE the lie that God won't help because we caused this. IT IS WRITTEN that His compassions fail not - they are NEW EVERY MORNING. The Father doesn't wait for perfect decisions to show mercy. IT IS WRITTEN that while we were YET SINNERS, Christ died for us. The BARAK blessing isn't for those who never mess up - it's COVENANT that covers messes. The Father is RUNNING toward my family with restoration, not waiting for us to deserve it. I receive His help as GRACE, not as reward for good choices. His faithfulness is GREAT regardless of our failures.
The Father isn't waiting for your family to prove they've learned their lesson - He's ALREADY releasing the provision while they're still in the mess. The prodigal got the party while still smelling like pigs.
