"I can't afford to both retire and give to God's work."
How it sounds in your head: If I'm already behind on retirement, how can I possibly give? Every dollar needs to go to my future. Maybe once I'm secure I can be generous, but right now I have to choose—my retirement or God's work.
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
-- Luke 6:38Religion: False dichotomy that positions giving and receiving as opposites, making God's kingdom compete with His provision for you.
Retirement calculators demand every spare dollar go to savings. Financial advisors tell her to prioritize her own future first. Giving feels like it directly subtracts from an already insufficient retirement fund.
Down to her last meal, planning to eat and die, she gave it to the prophet instead. Her jar of flour was not used up and her jug of oil did not run dry until the day the LORD sent rain—YEARS of supernatural supply from one act of giving.
I REFUSE the lie that giving competes with my future provision. IT IS WRITTEN that when I give, it is given back to me pressed down, shaken together, running over—giving is the PATHWAY to abundance, not away from it. I am under the BARAK blessing where the Lord commands blessing on my storehouses, and that blessing is ACTIVATED by generosity, not hoarding. IT IS WRITTEN that the generous soul will be made rich and he who waters will himself be watered. My retirement is SECURED by Kingdom economics, not worldly scarcity math. I give freely, knowing my Father multiplies seed sown. Every gift I give is an INVESTMENT in supernatural return.
Your Father is delighted by your heart to give and is about to show you that Kingdom math works backwards from the world's—the widow gave first and never ran out. He's running toward you with the oil that doesn't run dry, provision that outlasts the famine, because you trusted His heart enough to give.
