"I ask too many questions—I should just accept things like everyone else does."
How it sounds in your head: I can't stop asking why, how, what if. Teachers get annoyed. My parents say 'because I said so.' Other kids just go along with things and I'm over here questioning everything. Maybe my brain is broken and I think too much.
"Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers."
-- Luke 2:46-47Authority structures that demand compliance over curiosity; religious systems that punish questions as doubt or rebellion.
Adults shut down his questions with frustration. Friends don't obsess over 'why' like he does. He's learned that asking makes people uncomfortable, so maybe questioning itself is wrong.
At twelve years old—your exact age range—Jesus asked so many questions in the temple that the teachers were AMAZED. He didn't wait until adulthood to engage deeply; He questioned everything IMMEDIATELY. His parents found Him still asking, still probing, and Luke records that Jesus 'increased in wisdom' from that moment—questions GREW His wisdom instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that my questions are too much. IT IS WRITTEN that twelve-year-old Jesus sat asking questions and AMAZED the teachers—my curiosity is CHRIST-LIKE, not defective. IT IS WRITTEN that it is the glory of KINGS to search out a matter—my questions make me ROYALTY in God's kingdom. I am blessed in my curiosity, blessed in my seeking, blessed in every 'why' and 'how.' The BARAK blessing is on my mind—I am the head and not the tail in understanding because I ASK.
The Father is running to you saying, 'I LOVE your questions—I designed your brain to search Me out, and every question brings you closer to TRUTH!' He's not frustrated by your curiosity; He's DELIGHTED, saying 'FINALLY someone who wants to go DEEPER with Me!'
