"I abandoned my family responsibilities; I'm worse than an unbeliever and can't be redeemed."
How it sounds in your head: I walked out on my wife and kids, chose addiction over provision, left them struggling. First Timothy says anyone who doesn't provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever. That's me. I've disqualified myself from God's blessing.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust."
-- Joel 2:25Source: Religious legalism that uses 1 Timothy 5:8 as permanent condemnation instead of call to present responsibility.
The guilt of abandoning those who depended on you feels like the deepest betrayal, and seeing the fallout in their lives convinces you there's no coming back from this level of failure.
The prodigal demanded his inheritance early (wishing his father dead), blew it ALL on prostitutes, brought shame to the family name, abandoned responsibility completely. When he returned, the father RAN, embraced him while he stank of pigs, restored ring and robe—FULL restoration in minutes, zero probation.
I REFUSE the lie that my abandonment of responsibility has put me beyond redemption. IT IS WRITTEN that God will RESTORE the years the locust has eaten—not just stop the damage, but RESTORE. The prodigal abandoned everything and was fully reinstated in 15 minutes. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation in Christ. I am blessed with the BARAK that protected Jacob even when he fled responsibility for 20 years. The enemy wants me to believe it's too late. I am RESTORED, my Father is running toward me, and TODAY is the day of new beginning.
Your Father has been watching for you, and the moment you turn toward home, He's RUNNING—not waiting for you to prove yourself for seven years, not making you earn your way back, but wrapping the robe around you NOW because His love doesn't have a probation period.
