"God's punishing me with singleness because of my sexual past."
How it sounds in your head: You can't shake it. You gave your virginity to someone who didn't stay. You've slept with more than one person. Maybe you lived with someone. You've repented a thousand times, but every time you're still single, you wonder if this is God's payback. You're damaged goods. Used. This is what you deserve.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
-- 1 John 1:9Religious condemnation rooted in Old Covenant law—denying the finished work of the cross.
Purity culture told you your virginity was your gift to your husband, and you gave it away. The youth group lessons said sexual sin has consequences. You see women with 'pure' pasts getting married, and you're still alone. It feels like cosmic karma.
She was caught IN THE ACT—undeniable sexual sin, about to be stoned by religious leaders quoting Scripture about consequences. Jesus said 'Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.' No punishment. No waiting period. No 'earn your way back.' Immediate freedom, immediate restoration.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me with singleness because of my sexual past or that I am damaged goods unworthy of love. IT IS WRITTEN that if I confess my sin, He is faithful to forgive me AND cleanse me from ALL unrighteousness—not most, not eventually, ALL. My past does not disqualify my future. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not 'less condemnation,' not 'condemnation until you've suffered enough,' NONE. I stand in the barak blessing that covered Rahab the prostitute and put her in the lineage of JESUS, that restored the woman caught in adultery with 'neither do I condemn you,' and that made Mary Magdalene the first witness of the resurrection. I am not damaged. I am cleansed, forgiven, and beloved.
The Father doesn't look at you and see your past—He sees you through the blood of Jesus, spotless and pure, as if you'd never sinned at all. He's not withholding marriage as punishment; He's preparing something so good that your past will be the testimony of His redemption, not the reason for your loneliness.
