"Godly people won't take me seriously now that I'm divorced. I've lost respect and influence."
How it sounds in your head: I used to lead marriage workshops. Now I feel like a fraud. When I share my story, I can see people's mental filing system putting me in the 'cautionary tale' category. My voice feels like it carries less weight in spiritual conversations.
"But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me."
-- Galatians 2:6Religious culture that measures spiritual authority by life perfection rather than by covenant position in Christ.
You HAVE experienced people treating you differently - the invitations that stopped, the leadership roles that went to others, the subtle shift in how people receive your input.
This man was NAKED, living in TOMBS, CUTTING HIMSELF, possessed by a LEGION of demons - maximum social disqualification. Jesus delivered him and immediately sent him to TESTIFY to ten cities. His message? 'Look what Jesus did for ME.' His brokenness became his PLATFORM.
I REFUSE the lie that divorce has stolen my influence or respect. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 2:6 that God shows NO personal favoritism - my authority isn't based on people's opinions. The demoniac went from NAKED IN TOMBS to TESTIFYING IN TEN CITIES in one day. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that God's power is made PERFECT in weakness. My brokenness is not my disqualification; it's my PLATFORM. The BARAK blessing made Abraham the father of nations after he LIED TWICE. God doesn't choose based on résumés. I walk in COVENANT AUTHORITY, not reputation management.
Your Father isn't worried about your reputation or influence metrics. He's about to showcase what His grace looks like through someone the religious system wrote off. Your mess is about to become your MESSAGE, and people who need hope will listen to you precisely BECAUSE you're not pretending to be perfect.
