"God rewards them because they're generous. I can't afford to give like that."
How it sounds in your head: You see them writing big checks to missions, funding church projects, always first to help someone in need. Of course God blesses them—they're generous. Meanwhile, you're counting every dollar just to make it through the month. Can't give what you don't have.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Religious teaching that generosity is the cause of blessing rather than the fruit, creating a performance trap.
The Bible talks about giving and receiving, and you see the generous people prospering. Seems logical that their generosity unlocked God's provision, and your inability to give is keeping you stuck.
They were in 'deep poverty' and 'great trial of affliction,' yet the 'abundance of their joy' overflowed in generosity. They gave not to get blessed but because grace had already abounded. Provision came from God's nature, not their giving strategy.
I REFUSE the lie that I must be generous to earn blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies all my need according to HIS riches, not my giving record. Christ became poor so I could be rich—His generosity blessed me FIRST. I don't give to get provision; I give because I'm connected to the Vine and fruit flows naturally. The BARAK blessing is covenant inheritance, not a reward for generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. My Father supplies according to His glory, not my budget. I am blessed to be a blessing, not blessed because I was a blessing. Provision flows from HIS nature, and I am a branch that bears fruit automatically because I abide.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to write a check before He opens heaven's windows. He's already made you rich through Christ's poverty, and generosity is the fruit, not the root, of blessing.
