"God must be teaching me something through this suffering, so I shouldn't ask for it to end."
How it sounds in your head: Every adult says 'God's refining you' or 'building character through trials.' You feel guilty for wanting relief because maybe you haven't learned the lesson yet. What if asking for healing means you're spiritually immature?
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious teaching that makes God the author of suffering instead of the Healer who destroyed it.
Well-meaning people keep quoting Romans 5:3 about suffering producing perseverance, making you feel selfish for wanting the pain gone. If everyone says God uses pain to teach, then asking for healing feels like skipping class.
Disciples asked if blindness was caused by his sin or his parents' sin (trying to find the 'lesson'). Jesus said 'NEITHER—this happened so God's works could be displayed in him,' then IMMEDIATELY healed him. The point wasn't the suffering—it was the glory of instant deliverance.
I REFUSE the lie that God authors my suffering to teach me lessons. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:10 that Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE—the thief is the one who steals, kills, destroys. My pain is not God's curriculum; it's the enemy's attack, and Jesus already destroyed it at the cross. I am under the BARAK blessing—the same covenant that protected Abraham even when he LIED protects me from every curse of pain and sickness. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I was healed, so I don't 'learn to live with it'—I COMMAND it to leave in Jesus' name. My Father is RUNNING toward me with healing, not making me suffer to prove a point.
Your Father isn't withholding healing until you learn enough or mature enough—He's the Dad who killed the fattened calf for the son who blew everything on prostitutes. He gives ROBES to pig-smelling prodigals, and He gives HEALING to hurting daughters before they finish their apology speech.
