"God let this happen because my family wasn't tithing enough."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe if we'd given more, God would have protected us. I heard the pastor say we rob God when we don't tithe. Now we're being punished and it's because we weren't faithful enough.
"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
-- Romans 8:32Religious spirit: Malachi 3:8-10 weaponized as curse instead of Old Covenant context, presenting God as protection racket demanding payment.
She's heard transactional sermons about tithing and blessing. The timing of the loss feels like divine punishment for not giving enough to the church.
He gave nothing, honored nothing, and blew everything on prostitutes. When he returned with ZERO offering, the Father ran to him, restored full sonship, gave him ring and robe, and threw a party—instant full blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that God caused financial loss as punishment for tithing. IT IS WRITTEN that He who gave His own Son freely gives ALL things—provision is GIFT, not wage. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham even when he LIED and Jacob even when he DECEIVED—it's based on COVENANT, not tithing percentage. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 6:14, 'You are not under law but under GRACE.' Malachi 3 was Old Covenant; I'm under the BETTER covenant sealed in Jesus' blood. God's not a cosmic accountant docking my blessings for insufficient payment. I am righteousness of God IN CHRIST, and blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places. My Father RUNS toward me with provision, not away in disappointment.
Your Father isn't checking your giving statements before deciding whether to bless you. He's already running toward you with abundance that has nothing to do with your tithing track record—the party is prepared, the blessing is yours by BLOOD, not by budget.
