"God is withholding because I haven't given enough or tithed consistently."
How it sounds in your head: Money's been so tight. I know I should tithe, but we needed groceries. I've heard that when you don't honor God with your finances, He can't bless you. Maybe that's why we're stuck. Maybe I've shut the windows of heaven by not tithing faithfully.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Source: religious teaching weaponizing Malachi 3:10 (Old Covenant command) to make God's provision conditional on your giving percentage.
She's heard prosperity preachers promise that tithing unlocks blessing and seen her own financial struggle coincide with inconsistent giving. The correlation feels causal, and guilt says she's blocked her own breakthrough.
She had ONE meal left for herself and her son, then planned to die. She hadn't been tithing—she'd been STARVING. God sent Elijah to ask for her LAST MEAL. She gave it, and her oil and flour didn't run out for YEARS. She went from one meal to YEARS of supply in one act of trust—not because she'd been faithful before, but because GOD IS FAITHFUL.
I REFUSE the lie that God withholds from me because I haven't given enough. IT IS WRITTEN that God is ABLE to make ALL grace abound toward me, that I ALWAYS have ALL SUFFICIENCY in ALL THINGS and abundance for every good work. His provision doesn't depend on my percentage—it flows from His NATURE. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the CURSE of the law, which includes poverty, so I could receive the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM—and Abraham was blessed by COVENANT, not contribution. The BARAK protected Abraham even when he LIED. My financial breakthrough doesn't wait for perfect giving; it rests on FINISHED work.
The Father isn't holding your provision hostage waiting for a tithe check. He's the One who looks at 5,000 hungry people and a boy's lunch and says, 'This is PLENTY.' He doesn't need your money to fund your breakthrough—He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. The prodigal came home BROKE, having blown EVERYTHING, and the Father didn't say, 'Where's your tithe?' He threw a PARTY and gave him INHERITANCE AGAIN.
