"God is punishing them through this broken marriage."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe they did something wrong and this is God's punishment. Maybe God is mad at them for something. If they were better Christians, would He fix it?
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

She's heard 'reap what you sow' sermons and assumed suffering equals divine punishment. It makes sense in a cause-effect way.
Disciples asked if the man born blind was suffering because of his sin or his parents' sin. Jesus said NEITHER—'this happened so that the works of God should be revealed in him.' Suffering isn't punishment; it's setup for God's glory.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing my parents. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy—but Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE. This marriage struggle is the ENEMY's attack, not God's punishment. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. God is FOR my parents, not against them. I declare this situation will become a TESTIMONY of God's redemptive power. What the enemy meant for evil, God will turn to GOOD!
Father isn't sitting on a throne angry at your parents—He's running TOWARD them with healing in His wings, planning the most beautiful restoration testimony that will minister to thousands. He's never been mad at them.
