"God is keeping a record—every time I fail again, He's more disappointed and further away from helping me."
How it sounds in your head: He's given you so many chances. His patience is running out. You've confessed this same sin too many times. Eventually He'll just let you go. Three strikes and you're out. His grace has limits and you're approaching them.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Works-based theology that projects human frustration onto God and mistakes limitless grace for conditional patience.
She's seen human relationships where people give up after repeated failure. She's exhausted her friends' patience. The 'seventy times seven' verse feels like a ceiling, not a baseline.
Israel followed the same cycle for GENERATIONS: sin, oppression, cry out, God delivers. Over and over. Judges 2:18 says 'the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning.' Every single time. He didn't say 'Figure it out yourselves.' His compassion was NEW for every cycle.
I REFUSE the lie that God's patience has limits. IT IS WRITTEN that His compassions fail NOT and are NEW every morning. His grace isn't rationed; it's LIMITLESS. When I fail seven times, He says I have 483 more—and then He REFILLS the count. IT IS WRITTEN that love keeps NO RECORD of wrongs. My Father isn't keeping a disappointment tally; He's keeping me in His hand, and NO ONE can snatch me out. Israel repeated the same cycle for generations and God moved with pity EVERY TIME. I am blessed with the barak that protected Jacob through DECADES of deception. My God doesn't give up on His kids.
Israel sinned in the exact same pattern for generations. Every single time they cried out, God was 'moved to pity.' Not moved to punishment. Not moved to abandonment. Moved to PITY. That's your Father.
