"God is disappointed in me for not having self-control with food."
How it sounds in your head: You pray for help before eating, then binge anyway and feel the weight of His disappointment. If the Spirit lives in you, shouldn't you have the fruit of self-control? Your lack of discipline feels like spiritual failure.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Religious lie that God's love is conditional on your fruit production, turning the Father into a disappointed coach shaking His head at your failures.
Galatians 5:23 lists self-control as fruit of the Spirit—and you don't have it with food. That feels like evidence that either the Spirit isn't in you or you're grieving Him constantly.
Peter denied Jesus three times, cursed, swore he never knew Him—total failure of loyalty and self-control. Jesus' response after resurrection? Breakfast on the beach, restoration, and commissioning him to 'feed My sheep.' Instant reinstatement with no probation period.
I REFUSE the lie that God is disappointed in my eating struggles. IT IS WRITTEN that He loved me while I was STILL a sinner—not after I got self-control. His love isn't conditional on my fruit production—I'm the BRANCH, He's the VINE, and fruit is HIS job, not mine. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO condemnation. None. Not 'less when you binge'—NONE. I am Abraham's seed, blessed under the BARAK covenant that protected LIARS and DECEIVERS. My eating doesn't change His delight. I am His daughter, period. I receive His love NOW, at this weight, after that binge, exactly as I am.
The Father isn't standing with arms crossed waiting for you to 'get it together' with food. He's cooking breakfast on the beach, inviting you to come and eat—no shame, no lecture, just presence and provision.
