"God has already provided my career and retirement; expecting more now shows lack of faith."
How it sounds in your head: You worked hard, saved, planned. God came through with the career and the nest egg. That should be enough. Asking for supernatural increase NOW feels like you're doubting His past provision or being greedy. You should be content with the fruit of your labor. Anything more is just wanting what you haven't earned.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust."
-- Joel 2:25Religion teaches that God's provision has limits and seasons, making continued expectation seem like greed instead of covenant promise for every season.
You've operated on the earned income model your whole life - work hard, get paid, save, retire on what you've accumulated. That's the responsible, biblical model, right? Expecting God to just DROP wealth on you NOW feels like lottery-ticket faith, not the steady provision you've known. Besides, you're supposed to live on less in retirement, not expect increase.
The widow was down to her LAST meal - one handful of flour, a little oil, then starvation. Elijah said make ME a cake first, and the jar of flour was NOT USED UP and the jug of oil did NOT RUN DRY for multiple years. Supernatural provision didn't stop when her pantry was full - it CONTINUED daily, defying natural limits.
I REFUSE the lie that God's provision stops at retirement or career's end. IT IS WRITTEN that He will RESTORE the years the locust has eaten - He's not done providing, not done increasing, not done blessing. My expectation isn't greed; it's covenant confidence in a Father whose provision has no expiration date. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the blessing of Abraham, which INCREASED throughout his life to age 140+. The barak doesn't retire when I do. I receive supernatural provision and increase in this season without apology, knowing my Father delights in the prosperity of His servants and runs toward me with abundance whether I've earned it or not.
Your Father didn't run to the prodigal and say 'well, I already gave you your inheritance once.' He gave AGAIN - robe, ring, sandals, feast - because His nature is generous provision without limits. He's not watching your career clock. He's watching for opportunities to pour out blessing because that's who He is.
