"God gave me this chronic condition to teach me patience and dependence on Him—it's part of His plan."
How it sounds in your head: Your pastor said trials produce perseverance. That women's Bible study leader shared how her suffering drew her closer to God. Maybe this illness IS God's tool to shape you, to keep you humble, to make you pray more. Fighting it might be fighting God's purposes.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Source: Religious teaching that God authors sickness + enemy disguising himself as God's plan + misapplication of Romans 8:28.
You HAVE grown spiritually through this struggle. You DO pray more now. Scripture talks about trials and testing. Well-meaning Christians have told you 'God won't waste this suffering,' making it seem like the illness is FROM God.
Satan (NOT God) afflicted Job with painful boils from head to foot. Job's religious friends insisted it was God's judgment or teaching. God rebuked those friends, called their theology WRONG, and then RESTORED Job's health completely—plus doubled everything he lost. God's will was RESTORATION, not prolonged suffering.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me this illness to teach me something. IT IS WRITTEN that EVERY good and perfect gift comes from the Father—and chronic disease is NOT a good gift. Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE, and the enemy came to steal, kill, and destroy. IT IS WRITTEN in Acts 10:38 that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil—sickness is OPPRESSION, not God's plan. Like Job, I reject the theology that blames God for what the enemy has done. God's will is my HEALING, not my suffering. The BARAK blessing includes HEALTH—'I am the LORD who heals you' (Exodus 15:26). I receive the Father's GOOD gifts, not the enemy's oppression.
The Father sees you limping toward Him, believing He caused your pain to teach you a lesson, and He RUNS to you weeping—grieved that religion has blamed Him for what the enemy did, ready to demonstrate that His will has ALWAYS been your wholeness. He's not the author of your affliction; He's the Healer you've been seeking.
