"God expects me to just survive on less at this stage of life"
How it sounds in your head: I'm supposed to downsize, simplify, need less. Expecting abundance in my eighties is unrealistic and immature. Older saints should model contentment with minimal means. It's selfish to want more than bare necessities.
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:12-14World's ageist diminishing returns mindset plus religious poverty glorification, creating expectation that elderly should accept less and less.
Society tells elderly to downsize, simplify, move to smaller spaces, lower expectations. Her peers accept declining resources as normal aging. Church celebrates 'simple living' elderly as spiritual examples.
At 85 years old, Caleb didn't ask for a rocking chair and small pension. He demanded the MOUNTAIN with GIANTS on it, declaring 'I am as strong today as the day Moses sent me.' He took the hardest territory and CONQUERED it, proving God's strength and blessing don't diminish with age.
I REFUSE the lie that God expects me to merely survive at this age. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous shall FLOURISH in old age, be FRESH and FLOURISHING, still bearing FRUIT. I am not declining—I am INCREASING in the blessing. The BARAK blessing made Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob wealthy in their FINAL YEARS. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, the head not the tail, ABOVE ONLY. Caleb conquered mountains at 85. My Father gave the prodigal ABUNDANCE, not survival rations. I receive FLOURISHING provision NOW.
Your Father isn't downgrading His provision based on your age. He's the God who kept Moses's eye clear and strength undiminished at 120, who made Abraham wealthy at 100, who promises you'll FLOURISH in old age. He's running toward you with the fattened calf, not the budget meal—abundance, not survival.
