"Financial peace means we finally agree on every purchase and have zero conflict about money."
How it sounds in your head: The couples in church who have it together never fight about money. If you were spiritually mature, you'd be unified. Conflict means something's broken in your marriage.
"Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need."
-- Philippians 4:11-12Source: religion—Instagram marriage that presents fake unity as spirituality, makes normal disagreement evidence of failure.
The marriage books all talk about unity and oneness and you DO still disagree about purchases sometimes. Successful couples seem to have this figured out.
Sarah told Abraham to sleep with Hagar. He did. It created massive conflict—Sarah blamed Abraham, Hagar despised Sarah, household chaos. They DISAGREED about major decisions. Yet God called Abraham His friend and Sarah a model of faith. Covenant isn't conflict-free—it's Christ-centered.
I REFUSE the lie that financial peace requires perfect agreement on every purchase. IT IS WRITTEN that Paul learned contentment in EVERY state—abounding AND suffering need, agreement AND tension. IT IS WRITTEN in Genesis 16 that Abraham and Sarah had major financial and family conflicts yet walked in covenant blessing. I am Abraham's seed and heir of the BARAK—the blessing flows through RELATIONSHIP with God, not perfect consensus with spouse. Peace is Christ's presence in our disagreements, not absence of different opinions. We are ONE in Him even when we see money differently.
The Father isn't waiting for you to achieve Instagram-worthy financial unity—He's already given you HIS peace that passes understanding in the MIDDLE of your disagreements. He's running toward your conflict with the oil of Holy Spirit that brings supernatural agreement you can't manufacture.
