"Everyone who supported me now thinks I'm a failure and their trust was misplaced."
How it sounds in your head: I let down everyone who believed in me. They invested, encouraged, helped - and I failed them. Now they know I wasn't worth believing in. I can't face them.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
-- Romans 8:1Source: shame combined with performance identity - worth is measured by meeting others' expectations and proving their faith in you was justified.
She knows specific people who invested time, money, or reputation in supporting her venture. Their real investment makes her feel indebted and the failure feels like betrayal of their trust.
Abandoned Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey causing such conflict that Paul refused to work with him again. Failed spectacularly in front of spiritual giants. Yet later Paul wrote 'bring Mark, for he is useful to me' and Mark wrote the Gospel of Mark. Complete restoration and usefulness.
I REFUSE the lie that everyone thinks I'm a failure and their trust was misplaced. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus. If my Father doesn't condemn me, I will not accept condemnation from others or from my own imagination. My worth is not determined by business outcomes but by whose I am. IT IS WRITTEN that I am accepted in the Beloved, I am His workmanship, I am chosen. People's faith in me was never about MY ability to perform perfectly - it was about HIS ability to work through me. And He's not done. One failed venture doesn't erase His calling on my life or make their support wasted.
Your Father isn't embarrassed by you - He's proud you tried. Like John Mark who abandoned a mission and was later called 'useful' by the same apostle who rejected him, your Father is already writing your comeback story and the people who truly love you are cheering for your restoration, not condemning your failure.
