"Everyone else's ministry is growing while mine is stagnant—I must be doing something wrong."
How it sounds in your head: That church plant down the street went from 20 to 200 in a year. Your buddy from Bible college is speaking at conferences. Your youth group has the same 12 kids it had two years ago. You're working just as hard—maybe harder—but nothing's happening. God must be blessing them and withholding from you. What are you missing?
"But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load."
-- Galatians 6:4-5Comparison trap from the enemy, mixed with performance theology that equates God's favor with visible success metrics.
You can SEE their growth on social media. You hear the stories. The numbers don't lie—they're expanding and you're not. It feels like empirical evidence that you're failing.
Joseph had a dream of greatness at 17, then spent 13 YEARS in a pit, slavery, false accusation, and prison—watching his brothers live free while he rotted. Every year looked like the dream was dead. Then in ONE DAY, Pharaoh promoted him from prisoner to prime minister. The 'wasted' years were preparation; the timing was perfect. What looked like stagnation was positioning.
I REFUSE the lie that their growth proves my failure. IT IS WRITTEN: Each one shall bear his own load—I run MY race, not theirs. Their harvest doesn't diminish mine, and IT IS WRITTEN: He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. I stand in the BARAK blessing—the covenant that made Isaac SO WEALTHY kings asked him to leave, even when it looked like nothing was happening. God's timing is not late. What looks like stagnation is often PREPARATION. My worth is not in numbers; it's in obedience to the assignment only I can fulfill.
The Father is saying: 'You're watching their field while neglecting to see what I'm growing in yours. I don't measure success by attendance; I measure it by faithfulness. The seed you planted last year is germinating underground—invisible but ALIVE. Trust My timing. What I'm building in you is bigger than what you see in them.'
