"Divorce would actually be more peaceful. We're just hurting each other by staying."
How it sounds in your head: Every interaction is conflict. You're both miserable. Wouldn't it be kinder to both of you to just end it? You could have a few peaceful years before you die instead of this constant tension.
"For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one's garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts."
-- Malachi 2:16Enemy selling 'peace' through amputation rather than resurrection—the same lie he sold in Eden ('you won't die').
The immediate relief of separation feels more tangible than the uncertain possibility of restoration. Staying feels like choosing continued pain.
Job's wife told him to 'curse God and die'—essentially to take the easy exit from suffering. Job refused the 'peaceful' way out, and God restored DOUBLE everything he lost—including his relationship with his wife who'd told him to quit.
I REFUSE the lie that divorce is the path to peace. IT IS WRITTEN that God HATES divorce because it covers garments with VIOLENCE—what looks like relief is actually destruction of covenant destiny. The peace I crave isn't in separation; it's in SURRENDER to the Prince of Peace. IT IS WRITTEN in John 14:27 that Jesus gives peace NOT as the world gives—the world's peace is escape; His peace is PRESENCE in the storm. The BARAK blessing doesn't run from conflict—it DEFEATS ENEMIES before me. I am blessed in my GOING OUT and COMING IN—that includes coming in to my own home. The Father has already prepared reconciliation while I was still considering divorce.
The Father isn't waiting for you to 'try harder' at marriage—He's revealing that the peace you're seeking through divorce is already available through HIS PRESENCE right where you are. He runs toward conflicted marriages, not away from them.
