"Debt disqualifies me from prosperity; I must be debt-free before God blesses financially"
How it sounds in your head: I've got $40K in student loans and credit card debt from that business that failed. God won't pour in resources until I clean this up. The debt is a character issue blocking His blessing. First debt freedom, then prosperity.
"Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, 'Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.'"
-- 2 Kings 4:7Dave Ramsey religion made debt a sin and debt-freedom a prerequisite for God's blessing, contradicting grace.
Every financial sermon emphasizes becoming debt-free first. Proverbs says the borrower is slave to the lender. You feel shame about the debt and assume God does too, withholding blessing until you fix it.
Her husband died leaving debt so massive the creditors were legally seizing her two sons as slaves - lifetime debt, impossible to pay. Elisha didn't make her get a job and budget; he multiplied oil until every vessel overflowed. She sold it, paid ALL DEBT, and lived on the rest. One afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that debt disqualifies me from God's prosperity. IT IS WRITTEN that the widow with crushing debt got supernatural multiplication that paid ALL debt and left surplus in one afternoon. My debt doesn't block my Father's blessing; His blessing ELIMINATES my debt. The BARAK on my life operates regardless of my balance sheet. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:12 that the Lord opens His treasury to bless my land and makes me lend to nations, not borrow. I am Abraham's seed - the blessing that made him wealthy while he LIED is mine through Christ's blood. I receive debt-canceling, surplus-creating provision NOW because my Father delights in prospering His children.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to Dave Ramsey your way out of debt before He releases provision. He's the God who multiplied oil for the widow drowning in debt - one afternoon and it was ALL GONE plus surplus. He's not calculating your debt-to-income ratio; He's running toward you with the ring.
