"Dating is just drama and heartbreak. It's not even worth trying."
How it sounds in your head: You watch the middle school 'relationships' that last three days and end in tears. You see the drama, the gossip, the hurt. Maybe it's better to just avoid the whole thing. Why set yourself up for pain?
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
-- Jeremiah 29:11Enemy using others' failures and observable drama to create cynicism and relational withdrawal, stealing hope before trying.
You HAVE watched relationships crash and burn repeatedly, and the pattern seems universal. Protection through avoidance feels wise, not fearful. Why walk into obvious pain?
While everyone around him was making disastrous relationship choices (his father lied about his mother twice, his uncle Laban was a deceiver), Isaac trusted God's process. God sent a servant who found Rebekah BY DIVINE APPOINTMENT, and she came willingly. The relationship started right and brought Isaac comfort and love—zero drama.
I REFUSE the lie that relationships are only drama and heartbreak. IT IS WRITTEN that God knows the thoughts He thinks toward me—thoughts of PEACE, not evil, to give me a FUTURE and a HOPE. Other people's disasters are not MY destiny. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me will complete it—including my relationships. The BARAK blessing means I don't have to repeat others' patterns—I walk in NEW covenant blessing. God isn't preparing drama for me; He's preparing DIVINE APPOINTMENT like Isaac and Rebekah. My story isn't written by middle school disasters—it's written by a GOOD Father who gives GOOD gifts. I choose HOPE over cynicism, FAITH over fear.
The Father sees you protecting your heart and doesn't condemn the caution—but He's whispering 'Don't let their stories steal YOUR story.' He's not planning heartbreak for you; He's planning something so GOOD that you'll be glad you didn't let fear win.
