"At my age, faith for money feels greedy. I should only pray for 'needs.'"
How it sounds in your head: It's okay to pray for medical bills to be paid, but praying for extra feels selfish. Elderly saints should be beyond wanting things. I should just be grateful for what I have.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religious distinction between 'needs' and 'wants' that Scripture never makes - from a Father who gives richly ALL things to ENJOY.
She's been taught that holy people have small, humble prayers, and asking for abundance at 90 feels presumptuous when others have nothing.
Solomon asked for wisdom. God said, 'Because you didn't ask for wealth, I'm giving you wisdom AND riches and honor like no king before or after.' God gave what wasn't even asked for - EXCEEDING abundantly.
I REFUSE the lie that asking for abundance is greedy. IT IS WRITTEN that my God does exceedingly abundantly ABOVE all I ask or think. The BARAK blessing isn't minimalist provision - it's OVERFLOW. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were EXCEEDINGLY wealthy, and I am their heir. IT IS WRITTEN: The Lord takes pleasure in the PROSPERITY of His servant. My Father doesn't want me scraping by. He wants me BLESSED to overflowing at 90, 100, and beyond. I receive His extravagant abundance with joy.
Your Father doesn't have a budget category called 'needs only.' He's the One who made peacock feathers and gave Israel manna PLUS quail - protein they didn't ask for - because He gives richly ALL things to enjoy.
