"Any day they'll realize I wasn't as spiritual as they believed."
How it sounds in your head: They think I'm this prayer warrior, this woman of faith. But I've had seasons of doubt, times I didn't pray, moments I didn't even want to read my Bible. I'm not the saint they think I am. When they find out, I'll be demoted in their eyes.
"For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
-- Colossians 3:3Source: religion—the performance Christianity that measures spirituality by disciplines instead of position in Christ, the treadmill of doing to prove being.
You remember dry seasons, doubt seasons, wandering seasons. You compare your internal experience to others' external reputation. The enemy uses your honest awareness of struggle as evidence of fraud.
Fresh off calling fire from heaven and defeating 450 prophets of Baal, he ran scared from Jezebel, sat under a tree, and begged God to kill him—clinical depression. God didn't rebuke him, demote him, or replace him—He fed him, rested him, and gave him his next assignment IMMEDIATELY.
I REFUSE the lie that my dry seasons disqualified me. IT IS WRITTEN: my life is hidden with Christ in God—my position never changed even when my feelings did! Elijah went from mountain-top victory to suicidal depression in ONE chapter—God didn't demote him, He FED him and recommissioned him. IT IS WRITTEN: He who began a good work in me will COMPLETE it—not abandon it mid-process! The BARAK protected Israel even when they grumbled and doubted in the wilderness—covenant isn't canceled by bad days. My spirituality is CHRIST IN ME, the hope of glory—not my performance record. I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ—on good days and bad days.
The Father is saying, 'You think your doubts surprised Me? Beloved, I held you through every dry season—you were never alone, never disqualified. Your honesty about struggle makes you REAL, not fake.'
