"Alzheimer's took my mother's mind—it's probably waiting for me too."
How it sounds in your head: Every forgotten name sends a jolt of terror. Is this it? Is this how it starts? I watched Mom disappear piece by piece until she didn't recognize me. The genetics are against me. I do crosswords, take supplements, but I know the statistics. Daughters of Alzheimer's patients have higher risk—and I'm already forgetting where I put my keys.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
-- 2 Timothy 1:7Enemy using the horror of a parent's decline to plant fear that steals present peace and invites future disease.
You watched your mother forget your name—that trauma is etched deeper than any promise. Medical research confirms hereditary links. Every senior moment feels like the first symptom of the end you witnessed.
At 120 years old, 'Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.' While others aged and declined, Moses finished strong with perfect vision and full mental capacity—covenant trumped natural aging.
I REFUSE the lie that my mother's Alzheimer's has any claim on my mind. IT IS WRITTEN that God has given me a SOUND mind—not a declining mind, not a forgetting mind, but a SOUND mind. My memories, cognition, and mental clarity are under the BARAK blessing, not under genetic curse. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath—that includes mental sharpness. Like Moses at 120 with undimmed eyes and undiminished vigor, I declare my mind sharp, my memories intact, my cognition clear into old age. Christ redeemed me from the curse of mental decline. Every thought is captive to Christ, and every neuron fires according to divine design.
The Father isn't watching your memory lapses with a clipboard, tracking symptoms. He's running toward you with the mind of Christ Himself, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwelling in you, renewing your mind daily—not based on your mother's medical history but on HIS unchanging nature.
