"Adopting instead of conceiving naturally means accepting second-best from God."
How it sounds in your head: Adoption feels like giving up, like admitting God won't come through with a miracle. It's Plan B, the consolation prize when the real thing doesn't happen. I wanted to experience pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding—the 'normal' way. If I adopt, am I settling? Missing God's best? Choosing human solution over divine intervention?
"having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will."
-- Ephesians 1:5Cultural hierarchy that values biological children over adopted children, infiltrating Christian theology and creating 'better' and 'lesser' paths to parenthood.
Adoption requires grieving the loss of biological experience while simultaneously pursuing a different path. Culture and even church often treat adoption as noble but second-tier.
Born to Hebrew slaves, adopted by Pharaoh's daughter into Egyptian royalty, used by God to deliver entire nation. His adoption wasn't Plan B—it positioned him for PURPOSE his biological family couldn't provide.
I REFUSE the lie that adoption is second-best or settling for less than God's best. IT IS WRITTEN that God PREDESTINED us to adoption according to the GOOD PLEASURE of His will—which means adoption is the GOSPEL, not a consolation prize. I am adopted into God's family, not biologically born, and it makes me CO-HEIR with Christ. IT IS WRITTEN: Moses was adopted and became deliverer of nations—adoption positioned him for purpose beyond biology. If God chose adoption as HIS method to bring me into the family, why would I consider it 'less than' for bringing children into mine? I am Abraham's seed by ADOPTION into Christ, which means I'm covered by the BARAK blessing REGARDLESS of how children enter my family. I declare adoption is HOLY, INTENTIONAL, and EXACTLY God's heart—because it's how He made me His daughter.
The Father didn't biologically birth you into His family—He CHOSE you, ADOPTED you, made you His own by covenant and blood. That's not second-best; that's the entire Gospel. He's not disappointed if you follow His example and build family the same way He did.
